Sales & Announcements > Store News...
February 8: We are pleased to celebrate our one year anniversary on Friday, March 7. The store will honor the festivities by offering a likely one and only chance to meet our big fat cat, "Smokey." You have seen his picture at the counter. You marvel at how a cat that huge could really exist. Well, now is your chance to meet Smokey, live and in feline!! You also receive a 10% discount on your entire bill, excluding sale merchandise and furniture. But that can't be more important than meeting our Big Boy. See our Events page to learn more about this event filled weekend in Leesburg
February 8 (2): We are still working on getting a new and modern website up and running. We hope you will find everything on our new website that you may find at the "big" websites. We thank you for being patient. Great things are coming in a few weeks.
February 8 (3): We will become responsible for the LDBA's MeetMeDowntown website very soon Our involvement will be no more than updating the website to make sure it is current. Do not expect big changes on this website. All we hope to do is keep the website current.
January 17: We officially announced our furniture sale today. Save 20% on our already low cost on the best made furniture you can find anywhere, at an affordable cost. Come to our store to find out more.

November 7: While "out and about" this morning, we noticed that the Target in Leesburg has "country style" christmas ornaments for a dollar more than ours. We also found that the Hallmark store had them for $4 more than we do. (That's almost twice the price!!) We got a furniture ad today, and found a popular furniture store selling a 40" TV stand for $470. That's a over $20 dollars more than our TV stand, and our's is better made.
October 31: We sent out our monthly newsletter to folks on our mailing list. If you want to receive the newsletter, click here.
October 25: The Town of Leesburg just released it's new downtown parking guide. Click here to see it. I will also add a link to the parking guide in our Links section.
October 23: Thank you all for coming to Leesburg's Court and Market Days on Saturday. A few of our fellow store owners downtown mentioned how people kept saying they needed to go to "that country store" before they left the event. We appreciate your kind words. It's nice to know we are doing the right thing, providing items people want at an affordable price.
October 23 (2): Our furniture manufacturer just told us they will make their next furniture delivery on the week of December 17. Many people have told us that they want to buy our furniture as a Christmas gift. If you want to buy furniture as a Christmas gift, we need your special order by Friday, December 7. We can hold your furniture purchase until right before Christmas. We may be able to offer free delivery of your furniture on Christmas Eve, but those plans depend on how many people order the furniture and need it for Christmas Day. We are willing to work with (the collective) you, but we will see how things turn out.
October 16: We are in the process of reordering all our best selling merchandise, in anticipation for Leesburg's "Court and Market Day," scheduled for this Saturday, October 20.
October 8: We are donating part of the space in the front of our store for Leesburg's "Court and Market Days" to Holy Cross Abbey, the Trappist monks who make our honey. Kathy, the lay person in charge of their kitchen, will be here to answer your questions, talk about the programs the abbey offers, and "meet and greet" everyone.
September 25: IMPORTANT We will be receiving a furniture delivery on the week of October 15. If you order your furniture by October 5, you will circumvent the normal 3-8 week waiting period and have your furniture available for pick-up the week of October 15.
September 24: We are participating in this week's "Take a Break" promotion with the Leesburg Downtown Business Association. Mention the words "Take a Break," and receive $5 off your $50 purchase.
September 20: The Halloween figurines that we ordered have finally arrived. Almost a month after they were promised to us. If you've been waiting for the "Ghost with Cookies," "Ghost with Candy Corn," "Ghost with Black Cat," or the 3-set "Trick or Treat" figurines, well, come and get them. Soon. September 19: The Town of Leesburg, many of our fellow, downtown businesses, and we purchased a two page advertisement in today's Loudoun Times-Mirror. Look for our ad in the center spread of the "A" section, or just click here.
September 7: We made major purchases of new merchandise. New stock has arrived. Fall and Halloween merchandise is in!! Come and see what's new!
September 3: This month's First Friday will be a busy day for us. Come and meet internationally acclaimed photographer, Felix A. Marquez. Mr. Marquez is taking an evening off from photographing the US Open in New York to visit us. His work is highlighted in this month's Loudoun Magazine. He will have a slide show of his work and will be available to answer your questions. We will have samples of our honey and a dip mix. Also, the makers of our baskets, the Foxcreek Basket Co. of Danville, Alabama, are in town and MAY stop by during the event. Whether they can make it depends on their schedule.
September 1: We made various changes to our website. We updated the monthly specials page to reflect what is currently on sale. We also changed the home page to inform you of our hours this month. The summer weekend events have ended, so we are going back to our normal Saturday hours, 10:00-7:00. Monday, September 3, is the Labor Day holiday. We will be open normal Sunday hours on the 3rd, 11:00-5:30. We will also be closed on Sunday, September 23, to take a much needed day off.
August 21: The furniture, mentioned in our August 8 statement, was delivered today. ALTO should be back in 8 weeks, around October 20-something.
August 15: We have restocked much of the Halloween lace and dollies that we quickly sold. We now (should) have enough to last through October.
August 8: Now is the time to make your special order furniture purchase. Our furniture manufacturer will be delivering new items the last week in August. Order your furniture soon, and you will circumvent the normal 3-8 week waiting period. See our Press Release for more information.
August 7: We will no longer announce when we get more honey in. We have ordered so much honey from the Trappist monks in Berryville, Virginia, (invoice nos. 47, 48, 50, 51, etc...) that we are now their best vendor, even though we have only carried the product for less that two months. Come in and sample some. We always have at least three flavors of creamed honey available to sampling.
August 3: Major shipments of new products have arrived!! Halloween merchandise is in!! Pictures coming soon.
August 1: New monthly specials announced! All our summer merchandise is 30% off. That merchandise is located on the picnic table. The discount for all sale items will show up at the register when you check out.
July 31: We participate in the Loudoun County Government Employee Discount Program. Show your Loudoun County ID at the register, and get $5 off a $50 purchase. See store for limitations and details.
July 23: We have restocked our supply of Nancy's Candies and creamed honey. June 18: We now carry creamed honey made by the Trappist monks in Berryville, Virginia. We likely carry the best selection of Virginia's Finest(TM) gourmet foods in Loudoun County. It took us a while to decide on what Virginia honey to carry. We are picky people. We didn't want to sell just any honey made in Virginia. We wanted a honey that had a good story behind it. Selling honey made to support the fine, meditative life of the monks at Holy Cross Abbey certainly fits what we are looking for. Now, if we can only find a Virginia peanut supplier that can guarantee that the peanuts were actually grown in Virginia, we'd have the core of our Virginia's Finest(TM) selection solved.
June 13: We have restocked our supply of dog and cat slates. We sold out of nearly all our dog and cat slates in about two weeks. Sorry, but we seriously under anticipated the demand for these slates.
May 18: 20% 40 % off all Nathan Taylor Nantucket Baskets. All sales final. No exchanges. Sales limited to stock on hand. No additional discounts will apply.
We hope you like this new technology we are using to make our announcements page more user friendly. What you are seeing here is something known as an "accordian." This is a way for us to keep what would otherwise be a wildly lengthy web page under control while still providing you the details and past news you expect from us.
We are keeping our old news on our page mostly because that's one of the things search engines look for when they decide who to look at and how often. Search engines like Google and Yahoo love web sites with lots of content that is frequently updated. In a way, these search engines figure that if you have the time and resources available to have a web page that's full of content and updated frequently, you must have a web site they need to pay attention to.
We hope you like it!
